Welcome, W1MSG here. Been running BBS's on and off since the late 80's. I had a VHF packet BBS set up for a short time back in the early 2000's. Never got used as nobody in the area was interested.

KF5HSY here and just wanted to say hello to the HAMS, working on a new project and thought I's say hello. Working on getting a BBS setup and one day getting it radio ready, so hello.

    Cool.
I haven't really ever connected to a bbs over the air waves.
I suspect I'd have to do something like packet over hf or something
    since vhf is short range.

Back in the1970's on 2Meters 3or 4 local Amateure had teletype BBS's each on different frequencies that other hams could sign on to.
They were using RTTY (Radio Teletype).
I had a Video Terminal and could sign on those BBS'sor just read what was on the frequency when others used it.
