syncretro: survey candidate cores for future consoles (SIBLINGS.md)
A map, not a plan: which libretro cores could each become a SyncRetro
console for a whole-catalog win, the ScummVM pattern generalized. Docs only.
Buckets the candidates two ways. Kind A -- reimplementation frameworks you bring game data to: ScummVM (sketched) and EasyRPG (RPG Maker 2000/2003, the RPG twin of ScummVM -- huge freeware catalog, ideal terminal fit, costs the keyboard bridge + RTP-asset handling). Kind B -- open fantasy consoles whose catalogs are natively free to ship: TIC-80 (the standout -- gamepad-native at 240x136, so nearly drops onto the existing pad profile with no bridge),
LowRes NX, Uzebox, Lutro. Flags PICO-8 as the trap (commercial/closed, not a clean win) and OpenBOR / Cave Story as big free catalogs that fail the twitch interaction axis.
The payoff it encodes: one shared mouse/keyboard bridge amortizes across ScummVM, EasyRPG, TIC-80 and syncdos -- one piece of C, four content
universes. Ranked next-console shortlist: TIC-80 (cheapest big win), EasyRPG, then ScummVM. All gated on an M3-style probe of the real core first.
