I use wheat bread for my tuna salad sandwiches...and it keeps me "Regular".
The Starkist Tuna Salad varieties I have are original (Deli Style),
Ranch, Bacon Ranch, Hickory Smoke, Honey Barbecue (my favorite), Herb
N Garlic, and Lemon Pepper. There are other "hot buffalo" varieties,
but I stay away from them. They are low in carbs, and high in protein.
I like radishes in a salad, but rarely get a chance to go out to a
salad bar anymore.
At least there's lactaid for those who are lactose intolerant.
I used to be on a peanut butter and jelly sandwich kick, but have
switched to the tuna salads, as noted above, for more variety.
What I'm eating now, and even with Funions onion rings, are rather
low in carbs. Although when told to cut carbs, I sliced a pizza. <G>
As I noted above, if one is lactose intolerant, they have to drink something like lactaid, or eat lactose free ice cream.
The only time I drink sweet tea is when I get a chance to go out
with a friend maybe once a week, if weather and schedules permit. I
avoid the carbonated beverages, as they give me kidney stones. Also,
the caffeine in the tea tends to raise my heart rate and blood presssure.
I never did acquire a taste for coffee.
I'll scarf some sandwich cookies for dessert on occasion.
My A1C was 6.2 in November...it'll get checked again in mid-May. The
sugar has been consistently under 110.
