• Chat Night

From Khronos@HOBBYSPC/CWSHACK to All on Fri May 29 21:22:16 2026
    Hey guys!
Anyone have any thoughts on what night could work for us for a realtime chat sometime?

I was talking about that a while back, I really don't care what night. I am so down for chat night. I would like to do them on the weekend. Lets agree on a time and day.

For the most part, Friday nights after 9pm is generally open for me. Otherwise maybe Sunday night's. Saturday's I usually have a sound gig somewhere especially during the warmer months.

I'm neutral guys, so that's fine with me dude. Yah know? All that guitar playing I do, and I never do any shows or gigs. We don't have a singer or bass guitar player. The drummer, the guy I was telling you about who drinks all the time, really starts playing shitty after about an hour. He gets so drunk he forgets the beats to the songs.

We could even host it on each other's boards. Like each chat night we host it on a different board in the qwk network. Do you have a irc server?

It would get pretty crazy, but we could even set our poll times to say 30 sec or so if needed and use this base for the chat.

    Would be far too noisy.

Remember, SBBS has its IRC server built in. I have mine set up as part of the synchronet network, but the default channel is #revertivepulse as opposed to #synchronet. It's trivial for you to set yours to a #hobbyspace channel that would be generated, and it's also trivial for users on the BBS to join said channel, or, if they are logged in via a normal IRC client, to join said channel outright on the synchronet IRC network

You could keep a client connected to the channel and let that be that -- just like the good old days.

I enabled the Irc server on my bbs and was able to connect to it with my Irssi client.
Joining the #synchronet channel showed me lots of users.
Joining a small channel of our own would probably be a good idea for this purpose.

Yeah, that's the idea. like i said, jkust /join #hobbyspace and the channel will automatically be made. that solves that. Bonus points for getting all the nickserve and chanserv stuff done so that it stays semi perm and owned by whomever.

default SBBS irc setups all participate in the synchronet IRC network, so the BBS doesn't matter -- connecting to yours, if set up correctly, would be identical to connecting to mine for all network purposes. Yes, you would just make the #hobbyspace room, as I have done for #revertivepulse.

It really is that easy. have the service running and everything should just work.

    That works for me.
If you enable the irc server by default you are part of the Synchronet irc network if you have forwarded 6667 to your bbs from you router.
    Just join the #hobbyspace channel.
I'll be there a little early.

Alright! Now I got two people telling me different ways to go about hosting the chat. One is saying host it locally with my own irc server. One is saying make a room on synchronet's main IRC server. I don't know which one to do, so everyone try to figure this out, and I'll make accommodations. Easiest thing to do, would just be come to one of the boards on hobbyspace qwk network and host a local chat on multinode chat..Easy as pie, shoot we could even host on your server biggie..Anyways, come up with a definitive solution, as to where we will meet and I'll be there. Hopefully I'll feel better than what I am feeling like right now. I got almost home, and my stomach started feeling nauseous, pretty bad. I am going to chill maybe nap and hopefully, I will be feeling better later. It's almost like a burp is sitting right under my chest plate in the center and it won't come out or something. It feels fairly rough guys. Hope to talk to everyone soon. I hope this crappy feeling goes away!

I did a search on google A.I and got this, and it's exactly how I am feeling right now! Yuck!
    AI Overview
A burp trapped in your chest creates painful pressure and frequently triggers nausea, typically because of acid reflux, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), or swallowed air. This buildup often irritates the esophagus.Immediate Relief Steps
Sit Upright: Avoid lying down, as this allows gas and acid to move up your esophagus.Gentle Movement: Take a slow, gentle walk. Physical movement can help move the gas through your digestive tract.Try Gas Relief: Over-the-counter medications like simethicone (e.g., Gas-X or Mylanta) can help break up gas bubbles.Drink Warm Liquids: Sip warm water or ginger tea to help relax your stomach and encourage the trapped air to release.

Just do what ever you feel is easiest for you.
If you want to connect directly to synchronet's irc server and join the channel #hobbyspace do that.
If you want to open tcp 6667 on your router and forward that into your board and then you connect to the bbs on the inside do that too.
Don't stress too much over it.

What if we just host it on each other's local multi-node chat? Like we can rotate each week. That way everybody's logon stats go up lol

When we first started talking about this we thought by hosting each week on someones's BBS, using the muti-node chat function, would serve a few good bullet points for each of us:

    1) We would have to set up a user account on each one of the BBS's hosting and get us to login in the boards and check our BBS's out.

    2) It would increase our user base.

    3) It would increase our call counts.

IRC will also work very well but none of us will benefit with increased stats.

I'm fine with anything, but I like benefitting our individual BBS's. If we go the multi-node chat method I think Morningstarr should be the first host since Hobby-Space is his baby.

Just my 2 cents. Talk to you guys later! Let's figure this out soon :)
