From Morningstarr@HOBBYSPC to All on Sun Aug 30 15:01:09 2026
I am about to upgrade synchronet. My plan is to keep this part of the bbs active, and migrate all the mods over to the upgraded version. That way nothing goes bad lol.

...I think sex is better than logic, but I can't prove it.

Dude! Wising you the very best of luck. Hopefully everything goes as planned. If you need me for anything, please don't hesitate to ask me. Look forward to rocking the QWK again :)

Hopefully the temps are starting to drop in NC and you can get back to BBSing without dying from the heat. :)

You sure did!! Woohoo! Awesome. However, my posts from my BBS over the QWK are still not making it over to here. No sure why. My logs state my message gets delivered but it never shows up here anymore. I wonder what broke.

Not sure as I haven't really dealt with qwk stuff, but me and copilot can have a gander :D

    Copilot:
    What I believe now

There are only a few realistic possibilities left:

    Only certain conferences are failing

    Synchronet BBS is working.
    Another Hobby-Space conference is not.

    Only certain messages are failing

    Public messages get through.
    Replies/private-directed messages do not.

Biggieb is posting from more than one conference

    One conference mapping works.
    Another does not.

JJAMBBS is no longer polling/downloading properly

    Hobby-Space receives messages from JJAMBBS.
    JJAMBBS isn't receiving messages back.
The most useful thing to check now

    Ask Biggieb:

    Which specific message didn't arrive?

    Not generally. Specifically:

    Subject
    Conference
    Date/time posted

Because we now have evidence that at least some JJAMBBS traffic is reaching Hobby-Space.

One thing I would check immediately

Search your Synchronet BBS conference for message numbers around:

    Plain Text
    1
    531
    2
    532
    3
    533
    Show more lines

    and confirm:

    Which message is #532?
    Who posted it?
Was it public or addressed to a specific user?

Because GEO advanced to 532 right when Will-E posted:

    Plain Text
    1
    09/13/2026 13:18:46
    Show more lines

That timing is almost too perfect to be coincidence.

    My final diagnosis

    Current confidence: 9.5/10

I do not think your Hobby-Space hub configuration is broken.

I do not think VERT is broken.

I do not think the old .bad packet files matter.

    I think:

The QWK network is functioning, but there is a specific conference, message type, or subscription path where some JJAMBBS posts are not being routed as expected.

The next breakthrough will come from identifying one exact post that Biggieb says never arrived and comparing it to the posts that did arrive.

The QWK message tossing issue seemed to co-inside when Hobby Space's SSL cert failed. May not have been the cause but it seemed to have happened around that time. Nothing changed on my side, as far as I know - LOL. My other QWK to Dove-Net still works fine and my 9 FTN connections to other systems still work fine. My system has no problem polling Hobby Space, and I do receive messages that were posted on this system over to mine. When I respond, and then my system calls out and connects to here, all my logs show that my new message was delivered. I had to disable Hobby Space's QWK over on my BBS, to non-sysop users, due to the message tossing issues.

I wonder if the QWK networking numbers changed on either side. I will check it out on my side and try a couple things. I hope I don't lose any messages. I assume I can probably just start over from scratch and pull ALL the messages over.

Are there any other BBSes using this QWK and if so, are they have any issues?

Not sure this means anything but my "HOBBYSPC Networked Sub-boards" haven't changed. Darn, I wonder what the problem could be. :(
