    WKRP in Cincinnati

That is still my favorite office-based TV show. As a youngster,
    >that is where I wanted to work!

Especially with Jennifer working there.. B)

I was always a Bailey guy myself, but Jennifer also yes! :D

Yeah, and meanwhile Venus kept getting drunker and drunker. That
    >is also one of my favorites. Another is an hour-long (or two part?)
    >episode where a terrorist group threatens to blow the station up,
    >which I also often refer to as the "phone cops" episode. :D

Hmm.. not sure I remember that one. Maybe I missed it.. B(

Search "WKRP Phone Cops" on YouTube. ;)

"It's the phone company! They know what I did here today!"

Actually I picked the obvious one for the comment but I agree completely. B)

I liked Jennifer, not so much for her looks, but how she carried herself. She was classy, smart and yeah, she looked good. Bailey was OK, but a bit ditzy for my taste. I'll bet more guys were into the "girl next door" type than they'd admit. On Gilligan's Island, I was more into MaryAnn than Ginger, who was a ditz.

True, sort of the epiphany of lady office workers, those ladies who are
the ones often running the place. B)

I've never been much into flash so I would fit into that category..
In my experience flashy looking women are generally expensive to
have around, and once your funds run low, they run off..

On Gilligan's Island, I was more into MaryAnn than Ginger, who was a ditz.

    Same here.. B)

That was what was different about Jennifer though.. You see her looks
and expect a ditz but she was hyper intelligent.

Hyper intelligent women are another issue.. I once knew a lady with
a 155 I.Q. and a lot of people thought we would get together because
we were close there, but she ended up with a used car salesman who
wasn't unusually bright. I assume she figured it would be too much
work living with someone she couldn't totally dominate intellectually.

I suppose it's hard to blame her since I got on better with women
who were not unusually bright too. If you are obviously way above
them they don't try to argue with you about everything. If you give
them what they figure they need they are happy with your decisions..

My first long term girlfriend was once asked about our relationship
and she said that we get along just fine, 'He talks and I listen'.. B)

Later when I split up with my (only) wife, when we were talking
about why things went bad she said it was 2 things..

    1) I would never argue with her.. (? This is a bad thing ??)

    and

    2) She said (when it came to the important decisions),
"You always thought you were right, and you always were.."

I never thought Bailey was a ditz. I did think she was shy and unassertive, at first, and that came across as ditzy. However, as the show went on she got more confident. IMHO she proved herself to be very smart... certainly, like Jennifer, smarter that most all of her male co-workers.

There was an episode in the IIRC last season called "The Consultant." Jennifer acted incredibly air-headed and ditzy, while Bailey also acted air-headed but more spaced-out. When the Consultant reported their behavior back to Mama Carlson, she knew right away that it was a BS evaluation of the both of them... she knew they were both smart and competent.

I agree regarding Mary Ann and Ginger although, there again, I sometimes got the impression that maybe Ginger's ditziness was an act or maybe learned behavior. IIRC, the actress who played Ginger didn't like that aspect of the character and the fact that she was typecast after playing Ginger.
